The DENR, thru the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Dilasag and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Casiguran, facilitated the release of an Eastern Grass Owl back into its natural habitat in the province of Aurora on 25 June 2026.

The said release coincided with the Arbor Day Celebration.

A concerned resident voluntarily surrendered the said bird of prey to the Dilasag Municipal Police Station, which promptly coordinated with MENRO for its proper handling. MENRO then worked closely with CENRO to ensure the bird's safe turnover and release.

As dusk approached—the ideal time for this nocturnal species—the Eastern Grass Owl was successfully released back into the wild through the joint efforts of MENRO and CENRO, giving it another chance to thrive in its natural environment.

This meaningful conservation effort reminds us that Arbor Day is not only about planting trees—it is also about protecting the wildlife that depends on healthy forests and ecosystems.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office extends its gratitude to the concerned citizen, the Municipal Police Station, and CENRO for their cooperation in safeguarding our local biodiversity.
