Twenty-one-year-old Xiaoling from central China’s Hunan province has attracted 163,000 followers to her Chinese social media account after posting photos and videos of her daily life with her 25-year-old brother.

But it is not because Wang Junming possesses extraordinary abilities. Rather, Xiaoling’s followers sympathize with her brother’s rare condition.

Wang is about the size of a baby. Aside from being only 66 centimeters (2 feet, 2 inches) tall, he also has the IQ of a child, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.

Some kindhearted followers helped Xiaoling have Wang examined by a doctor, who diagnosed him in February with pituitary hormone deficiency (PHD), a condition that stunted his growth and metabolism.

PHD can be treated if diagnosed before the age of four. Wang received medication as a baby, but his father’s meager income as a bricklayer could not sustain the treatment.

Endocrinologist Deng Chao of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Changsha began hormone therapy after Wang’s diagnosis but could not predict how effective the treatment would be.

Meanwhile, a toll collector on a Chinese highway encountered a short-statured driver on 15 June and questioned him about his height.

When the driver claimed he had dwarfism, the toll collector remained unconvinced and called the police. Officers later discovered that the driver was a 12-year-old boy surnamed Luo from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to SCMP.

Luo had been driving alone for six hours on the highway before he was stopped and taken to the local police station. He used his red packet lucky money to pay the toll fees until it ran out.

When contacted by police, the boy’s father said he was unaware that his son could drive. Police also learned that the car Luo was driving belonged to a neighbor, who realized only that day that it was missing.

At the police station, Luo’s father and the neighbor were warned about the dangers of minors driving. The father was also criticized for neglecting his child.
