SM expands lifestyle, tourism footprint across Cebu

SM Supermalls is strengthening its presence in Cebu through new investments in retail, tourism, education, entertainment, and business, positioning its three malls as integrated lifestyle destinations that support the province's continued economic growth.
Through SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, and SM J Mall, the company said it is creating spaces that go beyond shopping by supporting commerce, tourism, education, employment, and community development.
SM City Cebu continues to evolve with the expansion of its North Wing, which introduced first-in-Cebu retail and dining concepts aimed at broadening the city's lifestyle offerings and attracting more visitors from across the Visayas.
The mall has also expanded its role beyond retail through the presence of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and National University Cebu, providing convenient access to worship and higher education within the complex.
SM City Cebu is also set to add a multi-use office tower expected to generate employment opportunities and attract new investments.
Meanwhile, SM Seaside City Cebu continues to strengthen Cebu's appeal as a tourism and entertainment destination through attractions such as Cebu Ocean Park, Cebu Fun Park, and Thirsty Pickle, a pickleball facility at Seaside Central.
Its upcoming SM Seaside Arena and the future SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu are expected to position Cebu as a major venue for concerts, conventions, sporting events, exhibitions, and other large-scale gatherings.
The arena also forms part of the broader South Coast City estate, which includes planned hospitality, convention, and mixed-use developments.
In Mandaue City, SM J Mall offers a contemporary lifestyle experience anchored on Japanese-inspired retail and dining concepts.
Among its attractions is Izakaya Terrace, which complements the mall's growing mix of restaurants, retail outlets, and leisure destinations designed for urban professionals and families.
According to SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, the company's investments are intended to create opportunities while supporting Cebu's long-term development.
"At SM, we believe that our role goes beyond creating destinations. We build spaces where people can connect, opportunities can grow, and communities can thrive. Cebu's potential is inspiring, and we remain committed to supporting its journey through meaningful experiences, responsible development, and investments that create lasting value," said an SM executive.
SM said its Cebu developments are anchored on sustainability, responsible development, environmental stewardship, and community-building initiatives as it continues to expand its footprint in one of the country's fastest-growing economic and tourism centers.
