Alex Eala faces Filipino-Canadian netter Leylah Fernandez in the first round of the Stuttgart Open in Germany which starts on Monday.

It will be the first time both athletes will be facing each other in the women’s singles as they vie for the prestigious Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 500 crown.

Eala made it to the main draw after world No. 37 Zheng Qinwen of China withdrew due to an injury.

Whoever wins will face No. 8 Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the Last 16.
