Due to the recent escalation of tensions and conflict in some areas of the Middle East, Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday urged all Filipinos currently residing in or traveling to the region to stay vigilant and prioritize their safety by taking all necessary precautions.
In a video message, Duterte advised Filipinos to avoid conflict zones and large public gatherings.
The Vice President also urged Filipinos to monitor official advisories and reminders from the local authorities of their current country and their Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Be vigilant about news from reliable media organizations," she said.
"Keep in touch regularly with your family, loved ones, and trusted friends regarding your location and your condition," the Vice President added.
Duterte also reminded Filipinos to ensure they have the emergency contact numbers of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the local authorities of their host country.
"Please make sure that your documents and passport are valid and in your possession. If the security situation worsens further, be prepared to change your plans at any time if necessary. Please also approach our embassies, if necessary, to receive proper advice on the safest way to return to the Philippines," she said.
"These times of uncertainty, your safety remains our top priority. May the Almighty guide and protect you all, and let us pray for the peace, unity, and safety of everyone in the Middle East," the Vice President added.
