Senator Bam Aquino didn’t dodge the question when asked about his plans for the 2028 elections.
On Wednesday, he said his focus remains on his current work in the Senate, especially since he just returned from last year’s midterm elections.
“It’s embarrassing to politick when there’s so much work to do,” he said in an interview on GMA’s morning show.
“I’ve just returned to the Senate. I haven’t even been here a year yet. What we really want to do is work for the people,” he added.
As chair of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Aquino said the public expects him to prioritize reforms in education, good governance, and accountability.
“[W]ork for education, push proposals that will ensure a more honest government. Do everything so that those involved are jailed, the money is returned, and the system is reformed. Do all of this for the people,” he said.
Aquino stressed that there is a right time for politicking.
“There will be a natural timing for that. Now, in 2026, it’s not even a year since the last election. Let’s focus on work first,” he said.
“If it were up to me, let’s work, let’s work hard, let’s work first. That’s what we should prioritize,” he added.
