Mayor Isko proposes P2.3B Intramuros Forest Park to PBBM

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso on Monday morning, 23 February, submitted to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. the conceptual design and project cost for the proposed Intramuros Forest Park, a plan to convert the existing Intramuros Golf Course into a public open space.

The mayor personally handed over the conceptual design to Executive Secretary Ralph Recto during a meeting in Malacañang.

In his letter addressed to the President and dated 23 February, Domagoso reiterated that the project, envisioned as part of the President’s Legacy Projects, is aimed at uplifting the quality of life of Manila residents.

“In line with my previous communication with Your Excellency during our meeting on 17 October 2025, and my subsequent letter dated 14 October 2025 regarding my proposal to convert the Intramuros Golf Course into the Intramuros Forest Park as part of the President’s Legacy Projects designed to uplift the quality of life of the residents of the nation’s capital, I respectfully submit this follow-through for your consideration,” Domagoso said.

“Attached herewith is the Asian Development Bank (ADB) report on the conceptual design and project cost of the proposed Intramuros Forest Park for your perusal,” the Mayor wrote.

The conceptual design, prepared with support from the Asian Development Bank and Arup, outlines a total project cost of approximately ₱2.3 billion, covering site development, park facilities, landscaping, and related infrastructure.

The key component is the Riverfront Promenade, which features main landscaped areas and a Picnic and Waterfront Area designed to activate the Pasig River edge with public amenities.

The Campus Garden zone includes main green areas, an Outdoor Theater, an F&B Area for kiosks and seating, and a Children’s Playground, creating a mixed-use civic space intended for recreation, performances, and family activities.

Another portion, the Gateway Park, is designed as a landscaped entry point, while the Urban Park portion integrates Sports Area and Parking facilities, a Lookout Area & Riverwalk, and a Sports Area and Viewpoint to combine open space with active recreation.
