Operatives of the Quezon City Police District arrested four individuals for allegedly obstructing authorities during an anti-illegal drug operation early Sunday in Barangay Damayang Lagi.
QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said personnel from Galas Police Station 11 chanced upon a male suspect identified as alias “Mark” who was found in possession of illegal drugs along Victoria Avenue at around 1:35 a.m.
Station 11 commander Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia said four individuals intervened during the inventory of seized items and allegedly obstructed the arrest.
The suspects were identified as alias “Maria,” 40, a resident of Barangay Damayang Lagi; alias “Maria Donna,” 47, and alias “Angelo,” 41, both residents of Barangay Teachers Village West; and alias “Paul,” 49, a resident of Barangay E. Rodriguez.
Despite the alleged resistance, police officers were able to apprehend the four.
Authorities said Maria Donna and Angelo had prior cases of malicious mischief in 2022 and 2016, respectively, and were previously arrested in Tarlac in 2022 for obstruction of justice and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code.
Silvio said the suspects will face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1829, or obstruction of justice, and Article 151, or resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. An additional charge for violation of Article 148, or direct assault, will be filed against Maria Donna before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
“The QCPD emphasizes that obstruction of justice will not be tolerated. We remain committed to enforcing the law, protecting the community, and ensuring that similar acts of resistance or interference are met with prompt and proper legal action,” Silvio said.
