What began as a viral interview turned into a deeply personal exchange after comedian-singer K Brosas released a video message addressing remarks made by Alvin Aragon, who had questioned celebrity parents openly supporting their LGBTQ+ children.
In the earlier discussion, Aragon named several public figures, including Gloc-9 and Ian Veneracion, while challenging their parenting choices. That mention prompted Brosas to speak, mixing humor with unmistakable emotion.
She opened her response candidly:
“Galit na galit, gustong manakit, kuya?”
And explained why she finally reacted:
“Alam ko, trending ka for how many weeks na ba o days, ’di ko alam. And ayoko sanang magsalita, kaso binanggit mo ’yung pangalan ko, kuya, eh. Binanggit mo kami. Parang kinondena mo kami dahil tanggap namin ’yung mga anak namin, dahil members sila ng LGBTQ. Bakit? Bakit?”
Throughout the video, Brosas used jokes, but never hid the point she wanted to make.
“Ano ang pakialam mo? May ambag ka ba kahit nung pre-school? Nagbigay ka ba ng baon? Charot.”
She also addressed the applause referenced in the earlier interview:
“Kasi meron pang palakpak. ‘Woo!’ Iba ’yung galit mo [sa video], kuya. ‘Woo! Palakpakan natin.’ In fairness, nung nag-come out ang anak ko at sinuportahan ko, hindi naman lahat pinalakpakan ako.”
Then came the line that quickly circulated online:
“Huwag kang mag-alala. Feeling ko, one of these days, makakatikim ka rin ng palakpak … sa mukha. Charot. Charot lang.”
Brosas clarified she wasn’t dismissing religion, only the way it was being used against others.
“Naniniwala ako, si Lord, accommodating. Hindi ’yan magtatanong pagdating sa langit. ’Pag namatay ako at tinanong ako, ang titingnan niyan, ’yung laman ng puso ko.”
She continued:
“Nakakalagay nga sa Bible, kung Bible ang pag-uusapan, ‘Love thy neighbor.’ Walang nakalagay doon na, ‘Love thy neighbor, puwera sa mga bading at mga tomboy.’”
For her, faith remains intimate rather than imposed:
“Hangga’t wala kang inaapakang tao, naniniwala ako na may sarili akong relationship kay Lord. Wala nang pakialamanan.”
More than defending herself, Brosas ultimately spoke as a parent.
“At huwag mong husgahan ang pagpapalaki ko sa anak ko. Uulitin ko, at least hindi kriminal, hindi nag-addict, hindi addict, or something.”
And she closed the message with pride directed at her child:
“At para kay Sofia, kung nanonood ka, hi. I’m so proud of you.”
Before ending with a final appeal:
“Spread love. At again, irespeto natin ang isa’t isa sana, at kalma. Kumalma ka, kuya.”
In true K Brosas fashion, the response carried punchlines, but behind them was something unmistakably serious: a reminder that for many parents, acceptance isn’t ideology. It’s love.
