PALO, Leyte — The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) has deployed 203 police personnel to seven municipalities in Samar and Northern Samar under the Revitalized Pulis Sa Barangay (R-PSB) program.
PRO-8 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy led the send-off ceremony at the PRO-8 Grandstand on 5 February 2026.
Capoy said the personnel will be deployed for six months to 12 identified barangays in the two provinces. Of the total, 101 officers were assigned to the towns of Pinabacdao and Villareal in Samar, while 102 were deployed to Victoria, Gamay, Laoang, Mapanas, and Pambujan in Northern Samar.
The Pulis Sa Barangay program, launched in 2011, aims to enhance police visibility to deter crime and ensure community safety. It was expanded in 2019 to strengthen community engagement, information operations, and police-community relations, with deployments focused on geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The program’s mission includes sustaining gains from government initiatives in barangays, preventing the possible resurgence of criminal and terrorist groups, and protecting neighboring communities from spillover threats.
“As you begin your new assignments, continue to exemplify the values of integrity, discipline, and service that embody the Philippine National Police,” Capoy told the deployed personnel.
