Known for her love of classical music, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos was serenaded by renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang during his recent visit to Manila.

“What a treat to see Lang Lang live in Manila,” the First Lady wrote on her Instagram account.

Lang Lang performs to sold-out concert halls in every major city around the world, and according to his official website, he was “the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic orchestras.”

“A beautiful evening of music, mastery, and shared moments with so many who came simply to listen and feel his magic. Thank you to the organizers who helped make this happen,” according to FL.

FL was also seen posing for a photo with Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan, a day after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. rejected a proposal to declare the envoy persona non grata amid escalating exchanges between the Chinese embassy and Philippine officials over the disputed West Philippine Sea.

Palace Press Officer, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro, said First Lady’s attendance in any consular events does not reflect any policy direction and is not linked to any diplomatic matters.

But Castro did not divulge what transpired when the First Lady and Ambassador Quan met on Friday, in which the latter posted on his social media page that he “had a pleasant conversation with the First Lady.”
