Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the expedited completion of infrastructure projects in the province of Pampanga.
The inspection of infrastructure projects in the province is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to complete all unfinished projects in the country.
During his visit to Pampanga on January 30, 2026, Dizon inspected the construction of the Sto. Cristo Flyover at MacArthur Highway in Angeles City.
The said flyover will serve as an alternative route to alleviate the heavy traffic experienced on MacArthur Highway.
Dizon said that it has already been three years since the start of the construction of the one-kilometer flyover. He added that this would have been completed within one and a half years if the budget had been immediately provided.
The secretary immediately ordered the provision of complete funding for the project so it would be completed by June next year and provide ease of travel for the motorists of Angeles City.
Dizon also inspected the controversial flood control project at Brgy. Candating, Arayat, Pampanga, as part of the DPWH’s technical assessment and investigation of the matter.
According to the initial evaluation of engineers from the DPWH Bureau of Design (BOD), as well as the recommendations of experts, the construction of a retention basin would help serve as a reservoir of water. The reservoir will prevent the strong current of water from hitting the barangays of Cupang and Candating.
The DPWH is also studying the permanent evacuation of residents and the correct distance to determine the no-build zone in the area.
An investigation is being conducted by the agency to ensure that those involved in the failure of the flood control project will be put on trial.
