PCG rescues 13 after vessel collision off Bataan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 13 fishermen Friday after their fishing boat collided with an LPG tanker in the waters off Bataan province.

The collision occurred near Barangay Lamao in Limay between the LPG carrier SL Bisugo and the fishing banca FBca Jun-Jun.

Upon receiving word of the accident, Coast Guard Station Bataan deployed search and rescue teams in coordination with the Special Operations Unit and the Limay Bantay Dagat.

Rescuers reached the scene and facilitated the safe transfer of all 13 crew members from the damaged banca to the shoreline.

Authorities transported the fishermen to the Barangay Lamao Rural Health Unit for medical evaluation.

Health officials confirmed that all 13 men were in good physical condition and sustained no serious injuries.

The survivors were temporarily housed at the Coast Guard Sub-Station Limay while awaiting the arrival of their relatives.

The Coast Guard has not yet released further details regarding the cause of the collision or the extent of the damage to the vessels.
