VinFast Philippines has turned over more than 500 battery electric vehicles to support the rollout of Xentro Motors’ ride-hailing taxi fleet in Metro Manila. The deployment increases the use of electric cars in daily public transport operations.
The delivery is part of an agreement for up to 1,000 units of the VinFast VF e34 to be supplied to Xentro Motors, with the remaining vehicles scheduled for completion by March.
The first batch was handed over in December, which allowed Xentro to begin deploying the cars across its taxi network.
Xentro Motors is the mobility arm of the Xentro Group of Companies, which also operates Xentro Malls in several fast-growing cities.
The group has equipped many of its mall sites with charging hubs, giving the taxi fleet access to fixed charging locations as operations scale up.
Company officials said this setup addresses one of the common hurdles faced by electric vehicle operators in urban areas.
The VF e34 is positioned as a compact crossover designed for city driving, with an all-electric drivetrain intended for high-mileage use.
VinFast said the model’s range and running costs suit commercial fleets that operate long hours in dense traffic, where fuel expenses and maintenance play a major role in profitability.
Fleet use has become a major entry point for electric vehicles in the Philippines, with companies exploring alternatives to conventional fuel-powered cars as charging access improves.
VinFast said corporate demand now extends beyond ride-hailing, covering logistics, utilities, and service providers that run fixed routes.
Aside from Xentro Motors, VinFast has delivered electric vehicles to several Philippine firms, including Meralco, Goldfields Motorsales Inc., Marstel Philippines Inc., Emviem Telephones Service, Ride Co, and Nerio Green.
Toti Zara, chief executive officer of VinFast Southeast Asia, said fleet clients require vehicles that can handle consistent daily use while keeping operating costs manageable.
He added that the company plans to continue working with local partners as more businesses explore electric transport options in 2026.
VinFast entered the Philippine market as part of its wider Southeast Asian expansion and has focused on building relationships with fleet operators rather than relying only on private buyers.
With the Xentro deployment now underway, electric taxis are set to become a more visible part of Metro Manila traffic in the coming months.
