  • EV Total Cost of Ownership Calculator

VinFast Philippines has launched a web-based calculator that helps buyers estimate the long-term cost of owning an electric vehicle and compare it with a gasoline-powered model.

The Total Cost of Ownership Calculator (TCO) considers regular expenses such as monthly financing payments, electricity or fuel use and routine maintenance. Buyers can then see how those costs may add up throughout their planned ownership period.

The tool is available on the VinFast Philippines website. Users select a VinFast model and indicate whether they prefer a battery subscription. They then enter their estimated ownership period and average monthly driving distance.

Turn savings into real world milestones

Rather than requesting potential consumers to compare prices alone, the brand’s TCO Calculator provides a clear view of cumulative ownership over several years.

On the website, users simply enter basic information such as their preferred VinFast car model, monthly mileage, battery ownership option and expected ownership period. Within seconds, the TCO Calculator generates an estimated monthly payment, monthly energy cost and total ownership projection.

For example, a buyer in the Philippines selecting a VinFast VF 7 Plus with a battery subscription, driving 2,000 kilometers per month over five years, would see an estimated TCO of P1,884,890.

Under the same conditions, the calculator estimates that an ICE vehicle would cost P3,156,240 over the same timeframe.

That equals a massive potential savings of P1,271,350 or about 40 percent.

Driven by local realities

A recent consumer study by Agile Data Solutions Inc. revealed that one in six Filipinos is actively considering an EV or hybrid vehicle as rising transport and fuel costs continue to be a consistent challenge for Filipino households.

With gas prices intermittently threatening the P100 mark in recent weeks, the everyday cost of mobility emerged as a primary pain point.

Based on 2026 local estimates, standard electricity rates hover around P12 per kWh compared to petrol sitting near the P65 mark — allowing high-mileage EV drivers to flawlessly outpace the initial purchase premium of their vehicles.

This local sentiment mirrors a broader global trend, as Deloitte’s 2026 Global Automotive Consumer Study found that 52 percent of US consumers considering an EV also cited lower fuel costs as their primary motivation.

Meanwhile, 40 percent said overall vehicle cost and maintenance remains one of their biggest concerns.

Together, these proof points highlight that whether in the Philippines or the United States, the desire to reduce lifetime mobility expenses is the primary catalyst that continues to drive the shift towards EV adoption.

For emerging automakers like VinFast — the No. 1 BEV Brand in the Philippines from March-June 2026 per CAMPI-TMA data — this TCO Calculator initiative helps consumers understand that lifetime ownership economics is equally important as advertising vehicle specs.

By making these long-term benefits measurable, personalized and easier to act on, VinFast goes above and beyond that just merely selling cars — it presents itself as capable of empowering Filipino drivers to make smarter and future-proof financial decisions.
