“Belated happy birthday to my first love, my first everything—especially my first heartbreak,” Barretto wrote. “I said this before and I say it again: if I were to live my life all over again, I’d still choose you to be my first.”
The actress said she is proud of the man Fernandez has become, describing him as “a true gentleman with one of the kindest souls I have ever met.” She also reflected on how their former romantic relationship evolved into an unexpected friendship.
“I never thought I’d ever be friends with my ex,” Barretto wrote, “but Mark definitely is the exception.”
She also thanked Fernandez for protecting her even after their relationship ended.
“Thank you for never talking bad about me,” she wrote. “In fact, you took all the blame and made sure I was always protected—even from afar.”
Barretto closed her message by emphasizing peace rather than regret.
“I have no regrets. Only great memories,” she wrote. “I love you, ex.”
