The Antique Airport can now handle 360 passengers, a more than fivefold increase from its previous capacity of 64, following a major modernization that boosts regional connectivity and economic potential.

The Department of Transportation (DOTR) reported Monday that the P126 million upgrade includes new check-in counters, increased from two to six, and a ramp capable of accommodating four jet aircraft simultaneously. 

Jet operations are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, further enhancing the airport’s capacity and efficiency.

The airport’s control tower was also expanded from three to seven storeys, improving visibility and flight safety, while modern baggage handling, flight information, and passenger systems aim to provide a faster and more convenient travel experience.

With its runway extended from 1,430 meters to 1,800 meters, the airport can now accommodate jet aircraft, opening the province to increased tourism, commerce, and broader economic opportunities.

“As our President mentioned earlier, the budget for the terminal alone [for Antique Airport] is P126 million. We will ensure that every cent goes into the project, and when it is spent properly, the outcome will be excellent,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said.
