The Northern Police District (NPD), in a joint operation with the District Investigation and Detective Management Division (DIDM) tracker unit and in coordination with the Bureau of Corrections–National Capital Region, arrested a 57-year-old man wanted for murder and believed to have been an escapee from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm for 37 years.
The arrest was carried out along Saint Peter Street, Barangay 186, Caloocan City, following verified information on the whereabouts of the accused, who was not named by the police.
After coordination and operational planning, joint operatives proceeded to the target area where the suspect was positively identified, accosted and arrested without incident.
Police said the suspect was informed of the nature and cause of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language known to and understood by him.
No resistance was encountered during the operation. The arrested individual, described as single and unemployed, is now in police custody and undergoing investigation and documentation for proper disposition.
P/Brig. Gen. Christopher R. dela Cruz, acting district director of the NPD, commended the arresting team for its diligence and professionalism.
