Tropical Storm Ada weakened slightly early Sunday as it moved slowly east-northeast of Southern Luzon, prompting wind signals, coastal flooding warnings and rough seas across parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ada was centered about 135 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts up to 90 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remained over Catanduanes and eastern Camarines Sur, while Signal No. 1 covered southeastern Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, and Northern Samar. Minor to moderate damage is possible in areas under Signal No. 2, with minimal to minor impacts under Signal No. 1.

Storm surges of up to 2 meters may affect low-lying coastal communities in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon within 24 hours. Gale warnings were in effect over eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon. Very rough seas of up to 4.5 meters were reported along the northern coasts of Camarines Norte and Sur and Catanduanes. Authorities urged all vessels, especially small craft, to remain in port.

Ada is forecast to continue northeastward before looping over the waters east of Luzon. PAGASA said it may remain a tropical storm before weakening into a tropical depression by Tuesday and further into a low-pressure area by Thursday due to the northeast monsoon.
