QC to ring in 2026 with twin New Year countdowns, free rides, strict firecracker rules

The Quezon City Government on Tuesday said it will usher in 2026 with two major public New Year countdown celebrations featuring live concerts and fireworks displays at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) and Nova Park in Novaliches on December 31.
“Nais nating salubungin ang 2026 nang maliwanag, masaya, at ligtas. Sa panibagong taon, muli naming ipinapangako na patuloy na magsisilbi at magsisikap ang buong pwersa ng lokal na pamahalaan para sa ikabubuti ng ating mga QCitizens,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
The New Year Countdown at the Quezon Memorial Circle will begin at 4:00 p.m., featuring performances by Kamikazee, Gloc-9, The Itchyworms, Streetboys, Mayonnaise, Angeline Quinto, Lola Amour, Dilaw, Soapdish, Reese Lansangan, and DJ Mike Lavet.
The event will be hosted by Allan K, Pokwang, Super Tekla, Donnalyn Bartolome, Donita Nose, Uma Rojo, and Camil.
Meanwhile, residents in northern Quezon City can also welcome the New Year at the newly inaugurated Nova Park in Novaliches, with performances by Angeline Quinto, John Roa, Bayang Barrios at ang Naliyagan, Ronnie Liang, Jennica Garcia, Pixie P-Pop Band, Von Martino & NXTSTAGE, Jeremy Glinoga, and Khimo Gumatay. Hosts Super Trix and Tyang Maria will lead the countdown festivities in Novaliches.
To ensure a safe and orderly celebration, the city government will deploy more than 3,000 personnel from the Quezon City Law and Order Council across both venues. These include personnel from the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Task Force Disiplina, and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
Emergency medical teams from the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) and the City Health Department (CHD) will also be on standby.
“Iisa ang aming hangad—isang lungsod kung saan lahat ay kasali at walang maiiwan sa pag-unlad ngayong bagong taon,” Mayor Belmonte added.
To further support attendees, the QCity Bus will provide free rides across its eight routes, operating from 1:00 p.m. on December 31 until 2:00 a.m. on January 1.
In line with the city’s environmental initiatives, the public is encouraged to bring their own tumblers, as free water refill stations will be available at both venues.
As New Year celebrations draw near, the Quezon City Government reminded the public to strictly comply with regulations on the use and sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
Under City Ordinance No. SP-3233, S-2023, the unauthorized use and conduct of fireworks displays, as well as the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in private properties—whether residential or non-residential—are strictly prohibited.
Only designated areas with valid permits and clearances from the Department of Public Order and Safety and the Bureau of Fire Protection are allowed to conduct fireworks displays.
Likewise, only individuals or establishments with a special permit from the Business Permits and Licensing Department or a hawker’s permit from the Market Development and Administration Department are authorized to sell fireworks and related devices.
City officials warned that fines and penalties will be imposed on those found engaging in the unauthorized sale, use, or manufacture of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in Quezon City.
