The road rarely announces what comes next. It leaves clues along the way.

As 2025 winds down, the local car scene feels quieter than it did a year ago. Fewer big promises. Fewer early teasers. More details come out only when brands are ready to show something concrete.

What’s visible heading into 2026 consists mainly of updates and additions to current models.

Electric vehicles are one of the clearer areas to watch.

The Department of Energy’s list of recognized electric vehicles now includes the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV under Toyota.

A listing does not confirm a launch date on its own, but it somehow signals that the model is undergoing the formal processes tied to the local EV framework. It serves as a public reference for Toyota’s EV activity.

Kia Philippines has confirmed that the Kia EV5 is planned for launch in the first quarter of 2026. The model has already appeared in local displays, which gave buyers a chance to see an actual vehicle instead of relying on announcements.

Hyundai has introduced the 2026 Stargazer and Stargazer X in the Philippines with updates to driver assistance and convenience features.

Toyota Vios Ativ variants and pricing for the 2026 model year have already been released locally. It continues into the new model year without changes to its market positioning.

Pickup buyers are watching developments further out as Nissan has confirmed that the next-generation Nissan Navara will go on sale in Australia in early 2026.

There is no Philippine launch schedule tied to that announcement, but the model’s regional progress is closely followed by local pickup owners and enthusiasts.

Toyota, meanwhile, has launched a new-generation Toyota RAV4 in Japan. Any local introduction has not been announced, but the global rollout provides context for a model that already has an established presence in the country.

Chinese EV brands continue to expand locally. BYD has grown its dealership network in the Philippines and now offers several battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models.

MG remains active with a mix of gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles. Models such as the MG4 and ZS EV keep the brand present in compact and midsize segments.

Suzuki continues to offer mild hybrid systems on several locally sold models.

Lexus continues to offer hybrid models in the Philippines.

GWM sells hybrid SUVs such as the Haval H6 HEV alongside diesel and gasoline models.

As the year turns, some models have confirmed timelines. Others have listings or confirmed regional activity. Together, they outline what motorists can expect to watch in 2026.
