“What’s up, mga Katribu!” and just like that, Apitong, Alabang, erupted with a star-studded ensemble.
Christmas for DAILY TRIBUNE was a world tour stop. For its silver anniversary, the newsroom transformed the venue into a full-fledged concert stadium, and the audience of staff-turned-pop-stars went wild.
It was evident from the moment you walked into the party that this was no ordinary year-end celebration. The staff turned the area into a star-studded pop culture cosmos by dressing up as their favorite musicians.
Avril Lavigne’s pop-punk vibes, Bruno Mars swagger, Katy Perry’s dream glam, BLACKPINK-level ferocity, disco-era Jackson 5 rhythms and Sabrina Carpenter’s Gen Z dazzle all showed up on the same fictional world stage.
Taylor Swift “hit the stage” with full Eras Tour confidence and primary pop-girl magnetism just when the lineup appeared to be unstoppable.
Rappers added bars and attitude, giving the celebration a hip-hop edge that transformed it into a full-fledged festival experience, and KATSEYE members offered international girl-group perfection. The world-tour feelings didn’t end there. Pop icons such as Post Malone, PSY and others were “in the mix,” resulting in a mashup of global music culture.
The eagerly awaited annual performance showdown marked the formal start of the concert. With a dramatic rendition of “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” the Editorial Team opened the show like superstars. The Ads and Marketing Team then enthralled the audience with their high-energy show.
But the Online Team grabbed the night with a skit and unique composition that was witty, snappy and completely relatable, eventually taking the top spot and ending the Editorial Team’s three-year winning streak.
The night transitioned into traditional Christmas cheer with a lively exchange gift segment full of jokes, surprises and cheeky steals of games.
A spectacular Filipino feast was enjoyed, complete with crispy lechon, steaming siomai, bibingka and puto bumbong, the kind of indulgence fit for a tour afterparty.
More than just a year-end celebration, the ‘DAILY TRIBUNE’s 25th Year Extravaganza’ celebrated innovation, camaraderie and 25 years of stories shared — and still to be told.
With pop icons, rappers and newsroom stars sharing one stage, the night proved that journalism doesn’t just report the news — it puts on a show worthy of a world tour finale, delivered “Without fear, Without favor.”
