TACLOBAN CITY — A Christmas party in Dolores Municipal Police Station has sparked a social media storm, prompting the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to step in.
The incident came to light after photos showing 16 uniformed personnel and one non-uniformed staff drinking inside the police station went viral on 16 December, shared by the Eastern Visayas Media Without Borders.
Napolcom chief Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the commission is closely monitoring the situation while investigations continue.
According to the Napolcom regional office, the gathering occurred on 15 December during the station’s Christmas party. Some officers moved indoors due to bad weather, and that’s when the photos were taken — appearing to show drinking at the station’s receiving area.
In response, the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas immediately relieved the personnel involved, including Chief of Police Police Captain Angelyn Glou Cortado. They were temporarily reassigned to the Provincial Holding and Accounting Unit of the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office, while replacement personnel took over to keep station operations running smoothly.
