The Aboitiz Foundation provided home recovery assistance to 285 families in the municipality of Liloan, Cebu, whose houses were totally damaged by Typhoon Tino, helping affected residents begin rebuilding during the Christmas season.
Each beneficiary family received P30,000 in assistance, bringing the total support extended to Liloan to about P8.5 million, according to the foundation. The aid forms part of its Home Recovery Assistance Program, which provides a combination of cash support and vouchers for construction materials and labor.
The foundation said the program is intended to help families rebuild safer homes following disasters, particularly those who suffered total housing loss due to flooding brought by the typhoon.
AboitizPower Distribution Utilities Chief Operating Officer Anton Perdices said the assistance aims to help families recover from the uncertainty and losses caused by Typhoon Tino.
The Liloan distribution followed a similar turnover of home recovery assistance in November to 225 families in San Remigio, Cebu, whose homes were damaged by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck the province earlier this year.
The initiative was carried out in coordination with local government units and partner organizations, including UnionBank, Republic Cement, Vic Enterprises, and community volunteers. The foundation said the collaboration reflects a shared effort to support communities beyond immediate relief.
According to the foundation, the Liloan assistance is part of the broader OneAboitiz disaster response program, which has reached more than 63,000 families nationwide, with total relief and recovery support amounting to over P28.8 million. The program covers disaster response efforts in areas affected by earthquakes, typhoons, floods, and storms across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The foundation said it hopes the assistance will help affected families regain stability as they rebuild their homes and livelihoods in the months ahead.
