  • AIA Philippines and BPI AIA Life Assurance Corp. have partnered with the Kythe Foundation to support pediatric cancer care as they launched two new multi-claim critical illness insurance products.

The companies said donations will be made to Kythe Foundation in the name of policyholders of AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect. The funds will support medical care, psychosocial services, patient navigation, therapeutic play, caregiver support, emergency assistance, and child-friendly spaces at the National Children's Hospital and the Philippine Children's Medical Center.

The newly launched insurance products provide multi-claim critical illness coverage, allowing customers to claim benefits for up to three major critical illnesses, including coverage for early-stage conditions, with protection extending up to age 100. The company said the products were developed in response to rising healthcare costs and increasing demand for broader health protection.

“This collaboration helps us bring to life AIA’s Purpose — helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives — in a deeply meaningful way, extending our contributions to the communities we serve. By supporting Kythe Foundation, we help enable vital psychosocial care and patient support programs that empower children with critical illnesses and give their families greater strength and resilience throughout their healthcare journey. We feel there is no better way to mark the launch of our new health products AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect,” said Melissa Henson, chief marketing officer of AIA Philippines.

Founded in 1992, Kythe Foundation pioneered Child Life Services in the Philippines to help pediatric patients cope with hospitalization through play, psychosocial support, and family-centered care. The donation will help fund emergency and treatment assistance, psychosocial support kits for newly diagnosed patients and their families, and upgrades to Kythe's safe spaces in partner hospitals.

“At Kythe, we see every child beyond their diagnosis. We see their courage, fears, and hope,” said Kythe Foundation executive director Magdalena Lopez.

“We are grateful for our partnership with AIA and BPI AIA, whose commitment to supporting Filipino families goes beyond financial protection. Their support helps us care for children with cancer and chronic illnesses not only by addressing their physical needs, but also by supporting their emotional well-being and that of their families,” she added.

AIA and BPI AIA said customers who purchase the new critical illness products will be informed that a donation has been made to the Kythe Foundation on their behalf at no additional cost to their insurance premiums.
