Young persons with disabilities (PWD) took the stage Friday in the Mayor Ruffy Biazon (MRB) IT Challenge, a competition designed to develop digital skills and prepare local talent for global information technology contests.
The program, held at Pedro E. Diaz High School, gives PWD participants under the age of 30 opportunities to demonstrate their abilities in software use, programming, and other IT applications, Mayor Biazon said.
The initiative serves as a training platform to identify and prepare participants for international competitions.
Biazon highlighted the success story of Muntinlupa’s Jhon Carlo Chuaquico, one of the winners in the MRB IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities in 2024. Chuaquico went on to bring home gold and bronze medals at the Global IT Challenge 2025 held in South Korea last November.
“It’s good to show that even our members of the PWD community can contribute to our journey towards a smart city, so, this is what we are doing here in Pedro Diaz,” Biazon said.
The mayor expressed hope that more participants in this year’s challenge will advance to higher levels of international competition, following the path established by Chuaquico.
