The Philippine National Police (PNP) is expanding its cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to support its ongoing modernization efforts and strengthen public safety programs, the police announced Friday.
Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. met with KOICA Vice President Lee Yun-Young last 3 December at Camp Crame. During the courtesy visit, they discussed capacity-building initiatives, technology support, and new areas for collaboration.
Nartatez said that ongoing and planned programs with KOICA include training for police personnel, the integration of modern policing technologies, and technical assistance designed to align the PNP with international standards.

The expanded cooperation covers several key areas: protection and assistance for Korean nationals and other foreign communities in the Philippines; strengthened coordination on crime prevention; measures to address transnational and cybercrime; and opportunities for PNP personnel to attend specialized courses and participate in exchange programs in South Korea.
