MISAMIS ORIENTAL — The provincial government of Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Northern Mindanao, has opened a new One-Stop Shop Operation Office aimed at making social services more accessible and efficient for residents.
The office, launched last week, is located on the first floor of the Tourism Office at Vicente de Lara Park on the Capitol grounds. It operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The initiative seeks to centralize and streamline the processing of documents, reduce waiting times, and eliminate the need for clients to visit multiple agencies for assistance.
Governor Juliette Uy said the program demonstrates the national government’s commitment to support all citizens without discrimination.
“We will ensure that requirements, especially for the poor, are addressed without burdening them with repetitive transactions,” Uy said.
Uy cited that the new facility resolves a major inconvenience for many residents who previously had to travel from the Provincial Capitol to uptown Cagayan de Oro City to complete their documents.
She added that services from the Department of Health and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will soon be included, further consolidating assistance programs in one location.
“We must give our people what is due to them. Our funds come from taxpayers; it is only right to return these services to the people,” the governor said.
Meantime, DSWD Special Assistant to the Secretary Ramel Jamen described the One-Stop Shop as a realization of the province’s vision for more accessible government services. He reaffirmed the agency’s support for local governments establishing similar facilities.
“DSWD will continue to support these initiatives. One-Stop Shops can also be set up in strategic LGUs, particularly those with major hospitals, to bring government services even closer to communities,” Jamen said.
