BDO Unibank, Inc. has expanded its portfolio of purpose-led financial products with the launch of the BDO HOPE Mastercard, a co-branded credit card developed in partnership with impact organization HOPE, the social enterprise behind Hope in a Bottle.
Officially launched on Wednesday, 3 December 2025 at SM Podium in Mandaluyong, BDO said the card turns everyday spending into direct support for education and sustainability projects, reflecting the growing push among Philippine banks to align commercial offerings with national development priorities.
Under the partnership, BDO donates P5 to HOPE for every P1,000 in qualified cardholder spend, with funds directed to the construction of public-school classrooms across the country. A portion of annual membership fees will likewise support HOPE’s broader education and community programs.
“Here in BDO, we believe in investing in every Filipino child’s education,” said Ma. Nannette R. Regala, BDO Senior Vice President and Consumer Banking Group Marketing Head.
“Every spend contributes to building more public classrooms for the Filipino youth. Through this partnership, we look forward to empowering more communities and spreading HOPE in Every Spend.”
Cardholders also gain year-round shopping perks, instant discounts, premium offers, and a competitive 1.85% foreign exchange conversion fee—positioning the card as both a lifestyle and advocacy product. Each physical card is made from 100% recycled plastic, in line with HOPE’s status as the first net-zero plastic-waste brand in the Philippines and BDO’s product sustainability strategy.
The collaboration is consistent with BDO’s broader ESG commitments and the banking sector’s increasing alignment with the Philippine Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs—particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production)—have prompted banks such as BDO to integrate measurable impact into financial products.
For HOPE, the partnership accelerates its mission to make consumer purchases a tool for nation-building. As the first Filipino Certified B Corporation, HOPE has built hundreds of classrooms nationwide through public-private collaboration, and the new card expands opportunities for individuals to participate in these efforts through daily transactions.
“What’s so exciting about this is that people can nation-build just by using their credit card,” said HOPE Founder and Executive Chairperson Nanette Medved-Po, adding that partnering with BDO – the country’s largest bank – maximizes the social impact necessary for the betterment of the country.
Customers who apply for a BDO HOPE Mastercard by 31 December 2025 are eligible for a P10,000 welcome cashback with a minimum P50,000 spend. Applications may be filed online or through any BDO branch.
