With the first of five new Airbus A320s delivered, Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to offer passengers more choices, smoother travel, and expanded access to destinations nationwide.

The Tan-led flag carrier said Wednesday that each A320, seating 180 passengers, will allow PAL to increase flight frequency and offer smoother connections between major hubs and regional cities.

Another A320 will join the fleet before the end of 2025, with three more arriving in 2026.

“By expanding our A320 fleet, we are providing travelers with more reliable, convenient, and comfortable options,” said Rabbi Vincent Ang, President of PAL Express.

The new aircraft are part of PAL’s wider fleet modernization program, which includes Airbus A350-1000s for long-haul routes, upgrades to existing narrow-body planes, and plans to acquire A321neo jets. These investments aim to improve operational reliability and elevate the in-flight experience for all passengers.

“Right-sizing our fleet enables PAL to maintain and improve our On-Time Performance scores, ensuring we continue to operate with the highest standards of reliability, safety, and efficiency,” Ang added.

Ahead of the peak season, PAL has also increased flight frequencies on key domestic routes, including Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Legazpi (Daraga), Dumaguete, and Tacloban, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to stronger connectivity.

With this expansion, PAL’s systemwide fleet grows to 80 aircraft, including 16 A320s serving major domestic routes.
