KAIA’s Sophia Mercado and FINA’s Chill Paloma have joined forces for a show-stopping live performance of “For Good” from Wicked.
“A mutual friend suggested it because she knew we both love Wicked,” Sophia shared. “We jumped on the idea instantly. We’re huge fans of the movie and the music.”
Chill agreed, “The vibe with Sophia just clicked. It felt so exciting to bring this song to life together.”
When they learned they would be performing the full duet, beyond the short snippet they had tackled before, both said yes without hesitation.
“We’ve always wanted to do the full version,” Sophia said.
Chill added with a grin, “Performing one of the best songs ever with a friend? That’s an opportunity you don’t pass up.”
Taking on the iconic roles of Glinda and Elphaba added an extra layer of meaning. Sophia found a softer, more vulnerable side of herself in Glinda, while Chill dug deep into the power and complexity of Elphaba.
Their voices, though distinct, blended effortlessly. “Just a little rehearsal and we clicked,” Sophia said. “Listening to each other made us better singers together.”
Chill highlighted the ease of their collaboration: “Working with Sophia made everything flow. We understood each other musically and personally.”
Beyond the technical harmony, “For Good” struck a personal chord. Sophia said the song resonates deeply, a reminder that every person we meet leaves a lasting mark. Chill added that it reflects growth, moving forward and cherishing the people who shape us.
“We want people to feel touched,” Sophia added.
Chill ended: “We want them to feel all the emotion we poured into this song.”
