A female motorcycle rider died after she was hit by a utility van along Payatas Road, Mayon Avenue, Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal on Friday afternoon.
Initial investigation revealed that both vehicles were traversing in opposite directions. The Mitsubishi L300 was coming from Quezon City while the Honda motorcycle was heading towards Barangay Silangan, Quezon City.
The motorcycle attempted to avoid a piece of boulder situated at the middle of the road, causing the lady rider to lose balance and collided with the L300 ban. After the collision, the victim went underneath the vehicle.
The 30-year-old victim, identified only as alias Grace, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The 48-year-old suspect, identified as alias Aris, was arrested by TMRU personnel who arrived first at the scene. They also took photographs of the final positions of the involved vehicles.
Based on the photos, the motorcycle was found beneath the vehicle, and the incident occurred within the lane of the L300 van.
The suspect was turned over to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. He faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
