QCPD nabs repeat robbery suspect in East Kamias break-in
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Acting District Director P/Col. Randy Glenn Silvio announced Thursday the arrest of alias “Joshua,” 37 years old and a resident of Brgy. Masagana, Project 4, Quezon City, for robbery in a follow-up operation conducted by the Anonas Police Station (PS 9) under P/Lt. Col. Leonie Ann Dela Cruz.
Silvio said that at around 2:45 a.m. on 24 November, the victim caught the suspect stealing inside their residence in Brgy. East Kamias, Quezon City, but the suspect managed to escape. The victim immediately reported the incident to PS 9.
Upon receiving the information, PS 9 personnel responded and conducted an ocular inspection, which revealed that the suspect forcibly broke a wooden door to gain entry and, with intent to steal, took personal belongings worth P106,000 and P3,500 in cash.
A review of CCTV footage showed that at around 11:41 p.m. on 23 November, the suspect was seen walking toward the victim’s residence. At about 2:55 a.m. on 24 November, he was recorded fleeing on foot, carrying a brown backpack and traversing along Anonas Road toward Brgy. Quirino 2A, Quezon City.
PS 9 presented a copy of the station’s E-Rogues Gallery, where the victim positively identified the suspect. A follow-up operation was immediately conducted.
Later, PS 9 received information that the suspect was being held under the custody of Project 4 Station (PS 8) in connection with a separate robbery (Akyat-Bahay) incident that occurred at around 9:36 p.m. on 24 November in Brgy. Tagumpay, Project 4, Quezon City, where he had been arrested. However, the complainant in that case opted not to pursue formal charges.
PS 9 then coordinated with PS 8. Upon arrival, the victims in the East Kamias incident positively identified the suspect, leading to his arrest at 3:30 p.m. on 25 November.
Recovered items included two laptops and a black bag. A record check revealed that the suspect had previous cases for theft, robbery, and violation of PD 1602.
The suspect was charged with robbery with force upon things before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Silvio lauded the operatives for their quick response and said, “Walang pinipiling oras ang serbisyo publiko ng mga kapulisan sa QCPD. Kaya hinihikayat ko ang publiko na kaagad ipagbigay-alam sa kinauukulan ang mga ganitong insidente upang mabigyan ng agarang aksyon."
