BAGUIO CITY — Baguio City Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan said truth has prevailed after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division officially dismissed the disqualification case filed against him by a former councilor.
“…the baseless allegations aimed at distracting us from our work have been put to rest,” Olowan stressed.
Former Baguio City councilor and vice mayoral candidate in the 2025 midterm national and local elections, Maria Mylen Victoria G. Yaranon, accused Olowan of illegal campaigning on the eve of the May 2025 polls.
According to Olowan, the ruling was entered into the Book of Entries of Judgments on 4 November 2025 and is deemed “immediately executory.” He said they received the formal notice of its finality on 18 November 2025.
Olowan added that the legal victory is not just for him but also for every supporter who believed in his platform of honest and dedicated service. He said the dismissal of the case allows him to move forward and continue his work for the welfare of the people of Baguio.
The vice mayor expressed his appreciation to the commission for addressing the case with fairness and objectivity.
