Singaporean bizman faces rape allegations

Manila prosecutors have received a criminal complaint from a 21-year-old woman alleging she was raped five years ago by a prominent Singaporean businessman when she was 16.
In her complaint-affidavit, the woman accused the suspect identified as Narwani Ricky Ravin — who allegedly identified himself as president of Mohan’s Customs Tailors in Singapore — of sexual assault at the Pan Pacific Hotels Group in Malate on 27 January 2020.
The complainant alleged the incident occurred during a birthday party attended by her mother. She said that Ravin asked her to accompany him to a connecting room to see a gift intended for her mother.
When she declined to enter the bedroom, she alleges Ravin became insistent and eventually pushed her inside.
The victim reported that Ravin locked the door, restrained her on a bed, and proceeded with sexual intercourse despite her repeated objections.
A witness, who was also 16 years old at the time, provided a supporting affidavit, stating he saw the victim return from the room "visibly distressed, crying and trembling."
The witness claimed the victim told him immediately that Ravin had sexually assaulted her.
Meantime, the complainant explained the delay in filing the complaint, citing her and the witness' youth and limited understanding of legal processes at the time of the alleged assault.
The victim also alleged that her mother attempted to contact Ravin the following day but found his phone unavailable, later learning he had returned to Singapore.
The complaint has been forwarded to the Office of the City Prosecutor for review, while DAILY TRIBUNE tried to contact Ravin but could not be reached for comment.
