Malacañang Palace is not buying former Ako Bicol Party-list representative Zaldy Co’s claims that there are threats to his life.
In the five-minute video he released Friday afternoon, the contractor-turned-congressman said, “I hope they don't kill me before I reveal everything.”
In a press briefing held Friday afternoon after Co’s revelation, the Palace urged him to reveal the alleged threats that were sent to him.
“First of all, shouldn’t he prove that there was a threat to his life? Where did he get these ideas? Was there a threat to his life when he left?” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said.
“Where are the records that say someone is threatening his life? He should first prove that before he opens his mouth,” Castro added.
Care for Co
“I haven’t spoken for a long time because I was given direct orders not to return to the Philippines and to just keep quiet,” Co said in his memoir.
The former solon also alleged that Leyte Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez advised him to “stay out of the country” and that he would be “well taken care of as instructed by the President.”
However, Co said that was not the case when he left. “What they meant by ‘We’ll take care of you’ was to use me as a cover for their campaign against corruption.”
He also portrayed himself as the “poster boy” of the current administration’s lies.
