Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police P/Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to building a more capable and resilient police force during his visit to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) on 13 November.

Nartatez’s visit focused on a straightforward yet critical objective: improving the quality of police education to ensure that the academy continues to produce officers who embody discipline, integrity, and professionalism.

In a dialogue with Acting PNPA Director P/Brig. Gen. Andre Perez Dizon, alongside academy officials and leaders, Nartatez emphasized that the transformation of the police service begins long before officers enter the field. It starts with the people who train, mentor, and shape the cadets daily. Strengthening the academy’s leadership and instructional capacity, he said, is essential to producing future officers capable of upholding the highest standards of public service.

The discussions also covered ongoing and upcoming development initiatives at the academy, which include upgrading facilities, modernizing training tools, and strengthening academic and leadership programs designed to support cadets, instructors, and PNPA personnel. These efforts align with the broader direction set by the PNP to ensure that cadets are well-prepared for the duties that await them.

Nartatez underscored that improving police education goes beyond facilities and equipment. It also requires fostering an environment where cadets learn the value of discipline, accountability, and sincere service to the Filipino people.

Under his leadership, the PNP continues to pursue the vision of a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” a police organization that is modern, principled, and deeply connected to the communities it serves.

Nartatez’s PNPA visit reflects this ongoing commitment, reinforcing the belief that the strength of the PNP begins with the quality of its training—and ultimately, with the character of its future officers.
