Showing the power of collective compassion, Kababaihan Partylist, with the support of Department of Justice (DoJ) Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez, donated P500,000 to the GMA Kapuso Foundation to assist families affected by typhoon “Tino” and super typhoon “Uwan.”

The amount was raised through Kababaihan Partylist’s recent fundraising campaign aimed at supporting disaster-stricken communities across the country. The turnover took place at the Kapuso Foundation’s headquarters, where GMA Network senior vice president for Programming Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes personally received the donation.

Just days earlier, Gutierrez was named one of Tingting Cojuangco’s Elegant Filipinas 2025. The DoJ official said the initiative was inspired by her fellow honorees’ shared commitment to transform recognition into service.

“We chose the GMA Kapuso Foundation to deliver the donations we collected for the victims of typhoon ‘Uwan’ and ‘Tino,’” Gutierrez said. “I met Annette at the Elegant Filipinas event where we were awardees, and there we discussed with the other honorees that we should come together to help our fellow Filipinos.”

Gozon-Valdes expressed gratitude for the timely support, calling it a reflection of women’s leadership and empathy in action.

“I am thankful to Kababaihan Partylist and Usec. Marge because even though the event happened before the typhoons, they still thought of entrusting their donations to the GMA Kapuso Foundation,” she said. “It’s heartwarming to see that the hearts of our women are always there for our fellow Filipinos.”

After the ceremonial turnover, Gutierrez and Gozon joined volunteers in repacking relief goods, working alongside Joy Marcelo, first vice president of Sparkle GMA Artist Center; Tracy Garcia, senior talent manager; Elegant Filipinas co-awardee and Villa Medica CEO Crystal Jacinto; and Sparkle artists Ronnie Liang, Prince Carlos, Althea Ablan, Prince Clemente, Cloud 7’s Fian Guevara and Johann Yago, among others.

Jacinto, who also participated in the volunteer work, encouraged the public to give their time and energy to the cause.

“Right now, we actually need more volunteers here at the GMA Kapuso Foundation. Just a little bit of your time will go a long way,” she said.

Beyond the cash donation, Kababaihan Partylist also delivered over 2,500 bottles of clean drinking water to typhoon-affected families in Liloan, Cebu, ensuring access to safe water for those hardest hit by the storms.

Gutierrez said these efforts highlight what true women empowerment means.

“It’s about using what we have — our platforms, our influence, our time — to help others,” she said. “That is what true women are: taking action, caring for others, and giving hope.”
