BAGUIO CITY — Residents of Baguio City and nearby areas felt a slight to moderately strong earthquake in the late afternoon of 13 November.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a magnitude 4.8 quake with a shallow depth of focus at 10 kilometers occurred at 5:57 p.m. It was located at 16.51°N, 120.27°E — about 7 kilometers south 74° west of Bauang, La Union.
Intensity III was reported in Baguio City, while instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, and Bani, Pangasinan. Instrumental Intensity II was felt in San Fernando, La Union, and Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Intensity I was noted in Itogon, Benguet, while instrumental Intensity I was measured in Bangar and Santol, La Union, as well as Bolinao, Pangasinan.
PHIVOLCS advised the public to remain vigilant and to monitor official updates regarding possible aftershocks, although the likelihood of such events is typically low for an earthquake of this magnitude and depth. No casualties or damages were reported.
