A minor phreatomagmatic eruption occurred at the main crater of Taal Volcano in Batangas from 6:51 a.m. to 6:54 a.m. on Wednesday, 12 November, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The event caused plumes reaching up to 2,800 meters before drifting northeast, captured by the Lower Calauit and Napayong monitoring cameras.
Phivolcs’ latest bulletin spanning 24 hours from 12 a.m. Tuesday to Wednesday also indicated a volcanic tremor recorded since 7 November, along a 69.3°C crater lake temperature and sulfur dioxide emission of 90 tonnes/day.
Entry into the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), specifically around the main crater and Daang Kastila fissures remains prohibited, the agency said. Boating on the lake and flying an aircraft near the volcano is also prohibited.
Residents near the area are cautioned against possible hazards including steam-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and expulsions of volcanic gas.
Taal remains under Alert Level 1, indicating low-level unrest.
