Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla revealed Wednesday that his brother, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla, received information and an electronic copy of the reported arrest warrant against Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa from a third party.
"We talked on the phone. He told me he got the electronic copy from a third source. So, it's not from the ICC," the DILG Secretary said during a radio interview.
"But in form and in function, mukha siyang official. But as far as we are concerned kasi, basta nasa security apparatus ka, dapat actionable document. Dapat dumating talaga,” (But in form and in function, it looks official. But as far as we are concerned, when you're in the security apparatus, you need an actionable document. The official copy should be sent), the younger Remulla said.
Ombudsman Remulla, in his 8 November radio program with Senator JV Ejercito and other commentators, said the ICC had issued a warrant of arrest against Dela Rosa. He later clarified on Tuesday that it was meant as a media scoop for their program Executive Session, aired every Saturday morning on DZRH.
The younger Remulla, meanwhile, refused to comment when asked how the Philippine National Police (PNP) would implement a possible ICC arrest warrant against Dela Rosa. He said authorities would wait first for an official copy of the order.
He earlier stated through the DILG that no red notice from the ICC has yet been received by the Center for Transnational Crime.
