The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that administrative and criminal charges will be filed against three police officers who caused a commotion at a bar in Quezon City over the weekend.
Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. released a statement assuring the public that the officers would face accountability.
“We want to send a clear message to our men that no one is above the law,” Nartatez said. “If we are the ones enforcing the law, we should also be the first ones to follow it.”
Authorities responded to a call at the bar and found several broken liquor bottles at the scene. Witnesses identified the three police officers as the culprits.
The three suspects were arrested, informed of their rights, and processed. Authorities confiscated their two loaded 9mm pistols and police identification cards.
