The local government of Makati is set to provide P34 million in financial assistance to local governments across the Philippines recently devastated by earthquakes and typhoons.
Mayor Nancy Binay announced the donations after the city council approved City Resolutions 2025-A-017 and 2025-A-018 last 13 October.
“We in the City of Makati support and pray for the victims of the recent earthquakes and typhoons,” Binay said. “We want to show them empathy and give them hope as they rebuild their lives and communities.”
The total amount is split between disaster response efforts. P13.5 million is allocated to localities in Cebu following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, and P20.5 million is designated for various local governments affected by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones “Mirasol,” “Nando” and “Opong.”
For the earthquake relief, the provincial government of Cebu will receive P2.25 million. Six towns — Bantayan, Bogo, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, and San Remigio — are allotted P1.5 million each. Catmon and Sogod will each receive P1 million, while Borbon is set to receive P250,000.
