The Bureau of Customs (BoC) on Tuesday debunked a viral social media post claiming that a Rolls-Royce luxury car, seized from the controversial Discaya couple, had been spotted on Metro Manila streets.
In a statement, the BoC clarified that the Rolls-Royce and other high-end vehicles confiscated from contractors Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II and Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” Discaya remain securely in the bureau’s custody.
The couple is currently under investigation for alleged anomalies involving government flood control projects.
BoC disclosed a discrepancy between the viral photo and the seized vehicle. The license plate number in the social media photo ends in 949, while the confiscated Discaya Rolls-Royce has a plate ending in 889, “clearly disproving the claim circulating online.”
“All seized vehicles are securely stored under the strict supervision of the Customs Police, safeguarded by physical barriers, security personnel, and inventory controls that prevent any unauthorized access, movement, or release,” the agency said.
The BoC warned that any unauthorized release or tampering with seized property is a serious violation punishable by administrative and criminal penalties under customs laws.
It also urged the public to rely only on official sources for verified information and refrain from sharing misleading content, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and public trust.
