A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental, on Sunday morning, 26 October, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the tremor occurred around 8:25 a.m., with its epicenter located 90 kilometers east of Manay at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The agency added that the quake, tectonic in origin, was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes that affected the region on 10 October. Phivolcs said the two events were a “doublet,” referring to quakes occurring close together in time and location.
Phivolcs said no damage or further aftershocks are expected from the event.
The agency reminded the public to remain alert and monitor updates from official sources.
