President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday offered the Philippines’ heartfelt condolences to Thailand’s Royal Family and its people after the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit.
Queen Sirikit, who had suffered a stroke in 2012 and had stayed out of the public eye since then, passed away on Friday night, 24 October 2025, at the age of 93, according to a statement from Thailand’s Royal Palace.
Queen Mother Sirikit was the wife of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and the mother of the current king, Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X).
In a statement, Marcos expressed profound sorrow, describing the late Queen Mother as a symbol of kindness, grace, and compassion whose influence transcended borders.
“With heartfelt sadness, we mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Her kindness, grace, and warmth touched so many lives, including ours,” Marcos said.
“Her close friendship with the Philippines and her genuine spirit of compassion have always been a source of strength and inspiration for us all,” he added.
Marcos expressed hope that the Queen Mother’s legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.
“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family and the Thai people. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy of love continue to inspire us,” he said.
Queen Sirikit was widely respected for her humanitarian efforts and lifelong work in promoting social welfare, education, and cultural preservation.
