Senator Christopher “Bong” Go maintained that his conscience is clear amid the filing of a complaint against him before the Office of the Ombudsman, saying the move was a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from the country’s real corruption issues.
“My conscience is clear … Hindi po ako magnanakaw. Hindi po ako contractor. Senador po ako na nagseserbisyo lang po sa ating mga kababayang Pilipino at may delicadeza po ako,” Go said during a Senate press briefing on Tuesday, 21 October.
The senator stressed that he has always stood by his integrity and principles.
“Iyung prinsipyo ko po sa buhay iyun lamang po ang puwede kong pangalagaan sa ngayon – ang pangalan ko. At hinding-hindi ko sasayangin iyan,” he said.
Go welcomed the filing of the complaint, saying he is ready to cooperate with the investigation and face the issue in the proper forum.
“I have been expecting this complaint, and now we are in the proper forum to prove the baselessness of his allegations. I now have the opportunity to answer him point by point before the Ombudsman and not on the media anymore,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the truth will prevail, calling on the Ombudsman to ensure fairness and impartiality in the investigation.
Go also emphasized that he would rather focus on service and compassion than engage in political mudslinging.
“Kaysa sayangin natin dito sa walang kwentang paninira, magtratrabaho na lang po ako. Serbisyo, pagmamalasakit, at sipag po ang puwede kong ialay sa ating mga kababayang Pilipino.”
Known as “Mr. Malasakit,” Go topped the 2025 senatorial race and has consistently ranked high in satisfaction, approval, and trust ratings among incumbent senators.
