For those who are about to watch Quezon, make sure to stay until the post-credits scene for a little surprise.

The said clip features a classic radio tuned to a station playing the iconic 1953 jingle “Mambo Mambo Magsaysay,” hinting that Jerrold Tarog might be planning a film about President Ramon Magsaysay.

Ramon Magsaysay, the seventh President of the Philippines, served from 1953 until his untimely death in 1957. Known as the “Champion of the Common Man,” Magsaysay was widely admired for his integrity, simplicity, and dedication to public service. Before becoming president, he gained national recognition as Secretary of National Defense, where he successfully quelled the Hukbalahap insurgency by combining military action with social reform.

Magsaysay's presidency focused on restoring public trust in government, fighting corruption and promoting rural development.

Magsaysay opened the doors of Malacañang Palace to ordinary citizens and prioritized the welfare of farmers, laborers and the marginalized. His death in a plane crash on 17 March 1957, at the age of 49, shocked the nation and cemented his legacy as one of the most beloved and idealized presidents in Philippine history.

Today, his name lives on in institutions like the Ramon Magsaysay Award, often referred to as Asia’s Nobel Prize, which honors outstanding public service and leadership across the continent.

Meanwhile, Quezon is now showing in theaters nationwide.
