DOH Raises Code White Alert for Typhoon Ramil

The Department of Health (DOH) announced a Code White Alert Saturday in anticipation of the expected landfall of Typhoon Ramil.

“The Department of Health has declared a Code White Alert in anticipation of the expected landfall of Typhoon Ramil this afternoon,” the announcement said.

“Under the Code White Alert, the DOH Operations Center will maintain continuous monitoring, while medicines, medical equipment, and Health Emergency Response Teams are on standby to respond to regions that may be affected across the country,” it added.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), heavy rainfall is expected across several areas as Ramil continues to affect the eastern Philippines.

From Saturday until 19 October afternoon, rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters is forecast in Northern Samar and Eastern Samar.

Rainfall of 100 to 200 millimeters is expected in Samar, Biliran, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Isabela.

Moderate to heavy rains ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters are also expected in Cagayan, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Iloilo, Antique, Capiz, Aklan, Guimaras, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, and Negros Occidental.
