PMA to open museum showcasing 126 years of military history

Members of the Philippine Military Academy Museum Team participate in the Philippine Museum Congress 2025 in Baguio City as part of the Academy’s preparations for the upcoming launch of the PMA Museum, which will highlight the institution’s 127-year history and contribution to national service.

The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is taking a major step toward preserving its rich heritage as it prepares to open its own museum, coinciding with its participation in the 2025 Philippine Museum Congress held from 7 to 10 October in Baguio City.

The congress, organized by the Baguio Museum Inc. in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), was held in celebration of National Museum and Galleries Month. This year’s theme, “New Technologies, Culture, Economics, Youth Involvement, and Green Environment,” emphasized the evolving role of museums as hubs for sustainability, education, and public engagement.

For PMA, participation in the national congress comes at a pivotal time, as the Academy finalizes preparations for the soft opening of the PMA Museum this October — an institution envisioned to showcase more than a century of military tradition, valor, and leadership that began in 1898.

During the four-day event, PMA’s Museum Team engaged with curators, historians, and educators on topics ranging from digital innovation to youth involvement and eco-conscious museum management. These discussions are expected to guide the Academy in developing a modern, interactive museum that highlights the sacrifices and achievements of Filipino soldiers while promoting patriotism and civic responsibility among visitors.

The upcoming museum will not merely serve as a display of artifacts but as an immersive educational experience designed to connect history with the present. It aims to deepen the understanding of civilians and cadets alike on the Academy’s evolution, milestones, and enduring contribution to nation-building.

As part of the National Museum and Galleries Month celebration, PMA’s initiative underscores its commitment to preserving military heritage while embracing modern trends in cultural education. Once open, the museum is expected to become a new historical destination in Baguio City — offering reflection, learning, and inspiration for future generations.
